HOW TRACTABLE WORKS

TRACTABLE is a vehicle that scrubs our roadways and collects an enormous amount of pollutants

  • The TRACTABLE vehicles will collect and filter an enormous amount of fine particulate PM2.5 pollution from our busiest roadways

  • The TRACTABLE vehicles will filter the PM2.5 pollution before it disperses from the roadways into densely populated areas

  • Metro areas have the highest concentration of PM2.5 per road mile and the greatest number of people per square mile

  • Bulk of the vehicle emissions accumulate by expressway barriers and urban street canyons before ultimately dissipating into our communities 

  • At peak congestion times the vehicle will scrub on the shoulders where PM2.5 concentrations are highest, off-peak will scrub on the road itself

  • Our analysis shows that up to 80% of street level pollution can be scrubbed

  • A fleet of potentially 100 or more vehicles would operate in a large metro area like Chicago

  • Vehicles will also remove toxic brake dust before being ingested by commuters and local residents, and remove microplastic deposits from tires before they are washed by rain into our rivers, lakes and oceans

In the shorter term the towing vehicle would be a battery powered electric truck such as the Tesla Cybertruck

Longer term the towing vehicle would be fully autonomous, significantly reducing the operating costs

How The TRACTABLE Technology Platform Works

1. Fine particulate matter collects at the shoulder when roadside barriers are present

  • Calculations and CFD design analysis findings and conclusions support this with analytical proof

2. Mapping algorithm of highly congested roadways at peak hours

  • We will develop an intelligent targeted mapping algorithm to maximize the scrubbing efficiency of the vehicles

  • Platform will use real time traffic data, temperature, humidity, wind vector and speed, vehicle emissions factors and road design

  • Platform will use real time air quality index data from on-vehicle sensors, as well as existing and new strategically positioned static AQI sensors

 

  • Vehicles would be dispatched and routed based on location of highest PM2.5 concentrations for optimization of scrub operations
